Mr. Tom Canon is the Building Commissioner of the Town of Hagerstown.  The Building Commissioner is authorized and directed to administrate and enforce Ordinances, Codes and Standards adopted by the Town of Hagerstown and the State of Indiana.  Plan review, issuing permits for construction, and conducting inspections during construction are a part of the responsibilities.  Planning and Zoning Administrator as well as Local Floodplain Administrator also fall under his responsibility as Building Commissioner.  Mr. Canon holds multiple licenses and certifications, is an active member of the International Code Council (ICC), the Indiana Association of Building Officials (IABO), as well as, the International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI) having twice held the position of Indiana Chapter president.
